Mental Health Hub for Greater Mankato area goes online

Free Press - 5/16/2024

May 16—MANKATO — A new webpage that provides easy access to mental health resources is now available for local residents.

The Greater Mankato Mental Health Hub is an online service sponsored by Minnesota State University'sCenter for Rural Behavioral Health.

The hub highlights mental health support resources in Blue Earth, Nicollet and Le Sueur counties and other surrounding communities by focusing on locating crisis and emergency services, finding mental health help, and by providing connections to mental health toolkits, guides and education. Parents, teachers and families looking for ways to assist their children and students may use the hub as a guide.

The hub webpage is being promoted by area mental health experts as part of the Greater Mankato Youth Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Committee, a community collaborative convened by the Greater Mankato Area United Way.

"We have heard from many parents and families how hard it is to navigate mental health services and resources," Lisa Hardesty, a board-certified clinical health psychologist at Mayo Clinic Health System, stated in an MSU press release.

"This is especially true when individuals and families are going through challenging times. We hope the mental health hub will be that extra help that is needed to help find the right resources at the right time."
